7 foot -- ULSTEIN SX121/123 Scratch Build ---
« on: June 02, 2010, 02:21:57 am »

Well here is the start of the build:

Specs: (1:50)

Length: 7'
Width: 2'
Height: 2.5'

Will have a working sub and helicopter. I am basing it off the Ulstein SX121 &123 but adding my own flair to it.

I have made my own plans and templets.

Beginning to start sheeting

Very impressive.
I wouldn't have thought you could have done such a nice job of a very complicated bow with so few ribs up front!
What wood are you using for the planking?

Well thank you. Actually I am using 1/16" thick not 1/8" I cant figure out how to edit a post..  I am going to add 1/8" x1/8" supports in the inside also.

Was able to get a little more completed last night.... I order 200 1/16" x 3/8" to skin the sides. I have 87 left so its going to be close.

I've seen some of the Norwegian Supply/Rig boats with those Bows and they are very impressive in heavy weather...Looking forward to the build..

Well after some more work today, just found out I will not have enough strips of balsa to finish covering the hull. {:-{ So off to the hobby store tomorrow.

Today I received the prop shafts and the props. So I will install those tonight.
