What Amperage is needed?
« on: June 07, 2010, 02:47:32 pm »

Hi,
I have bought a nice 3' long model of a crane barge. The guy says it had a 12v lead acid battery in it, but I have no idea what size it was, but from the strips of wood on the floor of the hull, I'd guess it was the same size as the gell cells you get in a home burglar alarm, but laid on it's side. I have been offered a sealed lead acid Yuasa 7amp one, is this too big? Here is a pic of the internals, there is 1 x what appears to be a 540 size motor, and 2 x much smaller side thruster motors with 25mm props. Any advice gratefully received, thanks.

7amp should be good, though the more amps the longer the run time.

For lead acid batteries go on the Component Shop web site and click on the pictures of the batteries, this will give you their dimensions etc.

If you need a new battery their prices are cheap, their service is excellent and their postage is ridiculously cheap.
