Thinking here , rig that up with a Decent Camera , 2 way radio and when we have our swim in the Albert Dock in a couple of weeks I could just sit and have that going up and down keeping an eye on the swimmers while I Stay nice and dry on the event pontoon in the dock..  I wish... <:(

Long build

Already done what you are thinking have a look half way down on this page http://www.lifeboatmodels.co.uk/severnvideoclips.htm the problem these day is its a 2.4 Ghz system and it gets interference from the new transmitters. But I have been told that there are now systems that use 5.8 Ghz

Just like to say big WELL DONE! sorry i missed the event as i went on the Seacombe landing stage as leaving point and 10.30am start, i take it there were no local press to cover it, unless they too used early times,  hope it wasn't a good opportunity missed.
so well done and thanks to the lifeboat crews, as i know how busy they get on the river.

how long did the entire trip across take?
going from twelve keys to pierhead took around 10mins, the return journey from pierhead to twelve keys around 35mins as we were fighting the tide.

Sorry to those people that got there for the earlyer time slot but we got stopped as the sea cat was due for departure and we had to wait at newbrighton till we got the go-ahead.

All in all it was a fantastic event and are looking for ideas for next year :-))

The English Channel !!  Only 21 miles across.. :-))    If people can swim it in under 8 hours (which they can) I'm sure it would be a stroll in the lake for you..

One of the organisations which escort swimmers has a  Fast escort/safety boat "Bayblast II" 9 metre RIB with 2 x Mercury 150hp Optimax engines. Cat 4 vessel (20 miles from a safe haven)

This might just be able to keep up with you.

very interesting Larry one to think about on a nice day. If a swimmer can do it in 8 hours I should do it in 3 to 4 hours, the boat use's 2 battery's every 3/4's of a hour so 4 sets of battery's should do it.

This should also be a great fund raiser for the RNLI if they got involved with the publicity side of things and maybe a escort when we get to the English side of the channel.

Youve got my brain ticking with this one Larry her in-door's wont like you if it goe's ahead :-))
