Flexi Shaft info needed
« on: June 16, 2010, 11:47:53 am »

I bought this rudder and flexi shaft unit on ebay very cheap, all I need to know is what size of shaft I will need and what other parts are needed.
Im completely new to flexi shafts so all info and links are very welcome.

You need a welded flex and stub setup,a collet to fit at the motor or engine ?to hold the flex only you know what length you need.Get longer and cut to length with a dremel cutoff wheel once you have everything else setup so you know how long you need it.They should be able to supply the flex or try Dave Marles he sells them. You can buy them with stuffing tubes also, you need to bend it to shape with the flex inside it so as not to kink it  ok2.What motor are you using, leccy or niitro? im asuming that rudder is for a 3/16" shaft ?.

You can go with that setup above which will need soldering or you can get a round collet to hold the round flex at the motor end with a welded on stub shaft that just needs triming to length no soldering.Stuffing tube is thin walled brass tubing, they should have all you need if you ask or as i say try Dave at pmb.
