Fleet R/C News
« on: December 31, 2006, 12:37:12 pm »

I spoke with Nick Hillman yesterday about the Fleet side of his business at Lippeards in Somerset and he has asked me to make it known that he wants to sell the business which includes the name, customer base, servicing equipment and spares stock.

Ideally, it would suit someone who needs 2 - 3 days work per week with modelling interest and electronics expertise (particularly de-bugging)

It would be fantastic if the right person/s could take this over and keep the Fleet range fully supported as it used to be.

If anyone is interested or knows someone who is please contact Nick Hillman on 01458 835906

(Nick has recognised that there have been contact/communication problems but he has assured me that a new answering service will be set up to receive interest in the business)

SPREAD THE WORD

Call me picky but if he had bothered to answer his email and connect his answerphone in the past year, he might not have needed to sell the business now. I was a Fleet customer for 15 years but got fed up with the lack of support and any new owner will have an uphill struggle to reclaim the good name. Me? - My next set will be Futaba.

PS. Did you manage to get your gear back off him which you reported he had had since May '06 - and had he sorted it?

Hi Barry

I received my gear about a week ago (by post)

It has been serviced and Tx and Rx has new nicad sets (no charge-with good reason!)
It seems crazy that this has happened to a UK company (sadly typical of UK business malaise/complacency)

It is also apparently very costly (due to EU regs) to design and produce new Tx models.

I needed a second set of crystals but haven't been able to buy them-BUT I have got my gear back!

What Futaba set are you getting?

Cheers

Rob,

Will be one of the 6 channel sets (6EXA??) because I build in lots of working functions on my models. Research so far is pointing me in the direction of 'A Model World' for past service and current prices.

Glad to here you got your gear back and I hope it keeps working! I suggest that you try eBay for crystals - I have seen Fleet ones coming up now and again.

Good Luck,

Barry
