Hobbie's (Dereham)
« on: June 28, 2010, 06:26:32 pm »

Has anyone built one of the "Triune" GRP hulled ships from this company?
I fancy trying the "European Merchant Ship, but altering it slightly into a British type Coaster.
Any advice or ideas would be most welcome!

I built this model based on Brockley Combe a late 19th century steamer using the Hobbies hull. The bow and stern were built up with plasticard blended in with car body filler. It's 4 years old now and showing no signs of separation which was a worry at the time. The decks were all plasticard with ply decking on the raised stern deck. I estimated it at 1:48

Hope this is of interest

Dougal99, many thanks for your reply/photo, that's the sort of idea I'm thinking of.
Could you please tell me what motor, prop, etc you used?

I used a standard 540 motor driving a 50mm brass prop running off a 6 volt SLA.
