Most older engine shafts are 1/4 UNF

Not the same engine but the basics are the same.....

I doubt highly that even if you could find a manual that it'd be in there. Best thing to do is get the calipers or even ruler out and measure it. After you've done so, give your favorite shop a ring and tell them what you need and what it's for. You'll also be needing a flywheel for it.

Being made in Italy i would think that the shaft would be metric, maybe a 5 or 6mm

If you have a thread gauge and a digital caliper or a small dial micrometer you can find the shaft diameter and thread pitch.  If not, take the crankshaft (or the whole engine) to your local hardware store, to the nuts-and-bolts aisle.  Try different nuts until you find the size that fits.

Or you can buy a nut and bolt identifier from Lee Valley tools (US & Canada).

It's nice to see an old Super Tigre, with a tubing fitting installed to pressurize a fuel tank.  I have not seen one since I was a teenager in the '60's.  A hot engine.
