I, too, would like to add that he was the perfect ambassador for this fantastic hobby, I remember meeting him for the first time about seven years ago at Model Ex in Northamptonshire. Even though me and my Dad were beginners to the hobby he carefully explained the benefits of props and hull forms to us showing us his boats and the different systems to get them to work. Without him we would have a poorer understanding of the hobby. Every Model Ex we would eventually meet and discuss fast boats and their designs- it was due to Scoop that we use the props that we use on our boats and we will forever be in his debt.
Me, and my Dad would like to add our condolences to his family, and the BMPRS, for their loss. A true model boater and one of the keenest modellers I have ever met.
RIP Scoop

My daughter and I are going to miss this guy. When I joined BMPRS he was so friendly and helpful to this new boy to offshore style racing. Our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to all his family.

Very Sad to hear about the untimely passing of Scoop, every now and again you come across a real gent, Stewart was up there amongst the very best, we always had great pleasure in seeing him at Burton MBC, Alan and I are going to miss him deeply, both of us send our condolences to his family and his many friends, we and many others are going to miss him at the events, he's going to be hard to replace.

A very spooky thing happened to me this evening, for a reason unknown to me I decided to chat to my partner about my OMRA days and mentioned that I had read somewhere in the past that there are more organisations for powerboat racing nowadays.

Chrissie then did a search for me and came up with the BMPRS site and then of course we both received an almighty shock.

Some of you will know of me, and that Stewart pitted for me from my time in OMRA from 2004 to 2007 during which time we won the D Class Championship with DM's Sigma51.

We didn't always see eye to eye and had our ups and downs especially in our winning year when often I would valve bounce because I couldn't find him when he was needed for the next race, of course by then he had started doing bits for the Model Boats rag which took his attention more and more and resulted in him helping me less and less, indeed it was this situation that lead me to crown him "Scoop"

Little did I know then that the name would stick as it did.

I find it scary that we fell across this sad news like this, otherwise we would never have known it had happened.

Stewart would do anything you asked of him and had a heart of Gold, I haven't seen him for some time now but the shock of this news has stunned me.

My deepest condolences to his wife Jackie and her family, we had some great days, hard times, good times but most of all a lot of great memories which no one can ever take away from us.

Rest in peace Stew, at least you won't have to prepare my props again!

Gary.

I am deeply saddened with the passing of our Forum member & fellow modeler Stewart ( Scoop ). Being a long way away we had never met but we did exchange PM"s. Our deepest condolences to his family & friends. When this happens it makes it much harder because of the distance involved. His loss will leave a big space in the model boating community that will be hard to fill if ever. Mick in Canada.

Never knew Scoop - but loved his commentary on his chosen vice, speedy boats.
He will be  sorely missed.

It is some time since the last post to this topic, time travels too fast!
When ever my mind is on BMPRS and boating things, Scoop is never far away from my thoughts. I remember the encouragement he gave me as a new member, help and advice and fabulous enthusiasm and such positive energy.

I know I am not alone because his name often crops up which is a lovely thing. I don't know if this is the right thing to say, but if Scoop was looking down upon us during current race events, I think he might be saying, "Keep it going Guys and Gals!" And I bet he would be brimming with excitement and smiling ear to ear!
