Hello
« on: July 18, 2010, 09:45:41 am »

Hi chaps and chappesses.

My name is Matt and I joined the forum last night. I have modelled in most of it's forms since the age of 10, I am now 34! Mostly done rc cars and planes, but I did have 1 electric speed boat when I was younger that came as a fibreglass kit. I have always done plastic kits of all types and enjoy weathering and making dioramas.

I now have a 4yr old who decided he wanted a boat when I seviced a couple for my local model shop (I do their servicing for most things cars/trains etc) so One model show later, he spent his birthday money on a 32" "power deluxe 280". Of course when I got it home realised it needed to have proper radio gear installed as an on off switch for throttle was never going to do.

Of course it's the old story, having had to "modify" it slightly, I got the bug and now it's got bigger batterys, different prop shaft and bigger prop. a 50A marine ESC and a full set of radio gear. It got attacked by a swan at our last outing and I know it goes faster than a swan in Take off mode!

My local shop has a very nice 4' MTB which comes fully built with a couple of brushed motors but no other gear, so I am now thinking of doing that and putting 3 small brushless outrunner motors in it, just to get the right sound for the turbines!

Any way, I expect you will see me around as I am an opinionated so and so!

I am in Newport, South Wales if anyone wants to look me up.

Matt

I didn't know that place existed! Mind you I have not really been doing any boating up till now.

I am opinionated, but also an Englishman, just happen to be living here. Although I do love it and wouldn't want to move back now!

Thanks for the welcome.

Hi Matt

Welcome to the club.  Don't take any notice of Peter. I do it for fun.   :}

I'm in the High Cross area and hide away all day in my garage, knocking things together. You are welcome to call, if only to help me turn my model around on the bench.  :-))

Give me a private email and I'll get the kettle on.  (click on my name for details)

regards

Ken
