New Testing Facility
« on: July 12, 2010, 08:38:26 pm »

After much negotiation and gaining many 'brownie points' from SWMBO I have been allowed to build a boat test tank at the bottom of the garden.  :-))

This has replaced the small paddling pool I used to use as it has developed more leaks than the Government !!

The agreed size was 12ft long by 5ft wide. The hole was dug out and lined with heavy duty pond liner guaranteed for 25 years, so it will probably outlast me!!

No more having to load up and drive the two miles to the park just to test out a minor modification, no more emptying the bath all over me when accidentally applying full throttle !!

This will even be large enough to test out the 1/12th scale lifeboats I build.

Now it's back to finishing the builds I have on the slips at the moment.  :-))

Did you line the bottom of the excavation with sand to prevent sharp stones splitting the lining Mike ?

No I used a closed cell foam liner, it worked out cheaper and less hard work !
