Hi All

I am having a real problem with the superstructure build, the ply I have seems to want to warp too much, I am using 1.5mm ply I think I will try the 3mm I have, What do you guys think?

Andrew...is easy for me to say

.........but if the 1.5 mm ply is warping....we could question that it may not being supported adequately

Post a few .jpgs.....& am sure a professional model boat builder here @ Mayhem will help with your question.........Derek

Slow progress at the moment

I am waiting for my shafts, motors, props, shaft couplings and rudders from Westbourne Models, They will not reply to my e-mails and I want to know if they have gone and if so how so I can at least track it. Very frustrating, I spent a lot of money and I have nothing to show for it yet!!

Enough of the rant

Regarding the ply warping try some simple bracing.

What about Float A Boat in Melbourne for your parts.
They handle everything for model boating.Have a look at website.
Just trying to help.Have purchased from Westbourne myself in the past with mixed results.

I can recommend Float a Boat unreservedly. They are an excellent company with a good range of model boat related products, and Adrian and Rhonda Brewer will go out of their way to help you

The latest installment, the center prop and rudder don't line up, will it affect the performance? I would rather not redo the rudder if I can avoid it. What do you guys think

Andrew......when we review the snaps from Reply #66 on: November 30, 2010, 07:28:18 AM » as below....the alignment between the three prop shafts & rudders appears OK.......

So what happened?....did the center prop shaft axis move? prior to epoxy bonding?

1. we as model builders are our own best & our own worst critics
2. 95% of people viewing you vessel would not notice the glitch
3. 5% may question the alignment
4. you could prepare a document available to all... to state that the second counter rotation propellor direction requires a 5.232' degree rudder offest to compensate for the second propellor.....

5. you could realign the center prop shaft & rudder

think? I think I need to do some sorting out.

Hi Andrew, how many batt. packs are you using in boat.I use a pack for each motor in my 1/24 Elco and it does get up and plane quite well.
You also need to place the batts so the boat sits right in the water.
My boat runs slow on centre motor and when i push throttle hard forward a relay kicks in flank motors for high speed .
A mate of mine has run a 1/20 scale Elco like yours using speed 600 motors on 8.4 volts for each motor with the relay system above with great success.But the boat needs to be well balanced.
After looking at your video i feel you need more speed and better balance.

Hi Gra
I am only running 1 8.4 volt battery split between the 3 Speed 600 motors. Ill have a play around over the next while, as I do have a bit of work on the cabin and deck
