Home made speed controller
« on: July 23, 2010, 12:05:12 pm »

I need to know how to make a very simple and light weight speed controller for a project boat.
Im planning on ripping apart a servo for the control board but from there Im stumped.
It needs to run from 0-4.5v and the cheaper and lighter the better.

Please can anyone help ??

If you are just using the servo motor, the board does the job.  If it needs more current, "proper" ESCs are available that weigh less, take up less space than the 4 extra transistors, dual opto isolator and 3 resistors, and are very close on cost to modifying a servo's guts.

Im fitting a larger motor than the servo motor, I have about 20 old servos that arn't needed and I'm putting £10 aside for this project and £8.50 has been spent  :-)
Thanks PMK that link was great, think that is probly the way to go.
