Hi i have an old model (approx 20yrs) but the paint has faded slightly what would be the best way to match this with new paint.

Sorry but for perfection it will have to be a total repaint - I am fairly new to modelling but have been painting using
water and oil based paints for years. Your twenty years of UV,  chemicals in the atmosphere, fading ete, etc, means
the paint on the model would probably not even match with the paint in the tin if you had and left and it was useable.

depending what it was painted with ....

if it was painted using car sprays try using some t-cut and buff the paint work back out and then re-seal it that can do the job quite well but watch the buffing dont buff a hole in the paint!!

if it was painted with antiquated ..... emulsion and varnished ... strip it off start from scratch,
