A, its really the Sanwa RECEIVER thats the problem.
If nobody comes up with a sensible suggestion, my way, apart from goggling a lot for official Sanwa information, would be to open the RX case, and look for an electrolytic capacitor (one of those probably pale blue little dustbins), see which connection was -ve, and chase the track back to the pins.  Or look at the I/C number, goggle for its datasheet to tell me which pin was ground, and chase the printed circuit tracks back from that.
One row of pins will be the common ground, the other common one has got to be +ve, which leaves the signals being the one thats left.  This can be double checked by chasing those tracks and seeing them go all over the place.

Hope this helps:

The wires on the old Sanwa plugs are, red (+), center black (-) and the outside black wire is the signal lead. Just match them up to the wires on the new servo leads. New leads will have red for + and black or brown for - and usually white or yellow for signal.
When I did some of my old ones a while back. I just took new servo leads and soldered the wires directly to the circuit board in the servo.

Dave if you have the correct battery pack that will show you the positive and negative pins.

Bob .This is a Sanwa ,mark II. all I have is the transmitter .two  6 channel recievers ,and three servos . and the servos have the very different wiring ,red and two black .there is no batterey pack . I like this tranny ,because its got the throttle on the left ,I am a lefty ,and it has  four channell to my knowledge .Its a good looking /clean set .the original batteries are not with the tranny ,nor the reciever ,  I am half way up the gum tree .  I was at the top . regards Dave.

A receiver battery either in poor condition or not adequately charged will give servo twitching due to the voltage not being stable under load, as will wiring in poor condition.  A digital meter (really cheap these days) is your best friend.

Dave,

Try this link http://fatlion.com/sailplanes/servos.html.

It gives information on servo wiring, and the old Sanwa are the same as shown for Airtroncs. This is the name Sanwa use in the US.

I hope that this helps.

 hi Dave.
I think I have your problem solved. Just looked in a boat which is getting refurbished.
It has the sanwa gear in it with the twin black and red wired servos.
There is a battery box in it as well.    INTERESTED.... %%

                                 cheers Frank..
