Welcome to the madhouse er forum. I see that you are in UK, not Utah which was my first thought. Hopefully someone near you will let you know what's around in your area. You say you are not into building from plans, do you plan to build kits? What sort of boats do you like?

All the best and welcome again

Welcome to the forum. I now live in the far north but as a kid I used to fish on Groby pool
wouldnt that be suitable for model boats - they used to be on it many moons ago, then there
are or were lots of old canals out at Shackerstone and that side of the county, finally what
about Abbey Park lake but a but further to travel. There are some members of the forum
from Gods lfair acre who could probably advise you of more suitable venues.

Thanks Both What A lovely Welcome.
I would like to sail power boats or the yacht type of power boat but not made my mind up yet,I am been told today that Abbey Park is only used for scale boats and nothing else.
Yes i have built the ARTF plane models, but i am not into build from plans etc,but i do like something with plenty of power with it.

Any help would be mote than welcome

Cheers

Welcome to the forum, there are many options for your choice of boat, are you intrested in RTR (ready to run ) or kits that require building?

Depending on your budget there are diffrent types of boats to meet your needed.

In regards to yachts the Grauphner Jules Verne yacht is a very nice model to build as well as fast and attractive.
http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/graupner_jules_verne.html

There are also cheaper options like the Fire boats from robbe which is also a fast model
http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/robbe-fireboat-flb.html

There is also a Small 'power boat, more like a common speed boat'
http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/robbe-katja.html

There are also these type of yachts , one being a trawler yacht (2nd link)
http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/krick_lisa.html
http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/krick_nordstrand.html

I find this one is quite attractive for a semi moden yacht
http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/info_1_736.html

This is a smaller motor yacht
http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/MW984.html

Power cruisers, cabin boats ( based on the Fairly boat group. Huntsman 31/28, Swordsman, Fantome, etc)
http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/mfa-fantome.html
http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/mfa-spearfish.html

I can go on and on.. so i hope some of these might help you make a decision, but take your time to look around. let us know how you get on  :-))

if its 35mhz.. then no. there air craft tx's you are limited to 27mhz fm ,40am and 40 fm. but i would concider using a 2.4ghz tx you can pick them up pretty cheap planet 5 system is around thr £50 mark, good thing with these are there is no such thing as crossing frequencys you set the rx with the tx and no one will ever crash with you. so your not limited to 6 or 12 (using split cyrstals) boats on the water! these are deffinaly becoming the way to go from crystal use.
the other good thing about the 2.4ghz is that instead of getting new radio gear for each boat or constanlty changing the rx to each boat you can just buy new rx box's and put ineverything you have meaning 1 tx will run as many things you own with a rx paired  :-)) they dont come with servos generally, but most of us dont use the bog standard servos in boats that come with a tx bundle they normally get swapped out for decent water proof/ high touque/ high speed/ metal geared.

Dx7 is 2.4Ghz I believe so that would be fine. Ignore Prophets 2.5 Ghz, they dont make one. ;)

Think Burton club one of closest to you but not sure, they'll point you in the right direction. Great bunch over there and very helpful. http://www.burtonmodelboatclub.org.uk/index.html  Some good links to other sites there too.  I get lot of my kits, bits etc from this shop. http://www.westbourne-model.co.uk/ Good choice there and fast delivery, they'll help sort things out over the phone too which is nice these days.  Have you thought about going to the show in Warrington next weekend 28-29th August? http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=21716.0  Most of the main dealers will be there, plenty of clubs there too with boats on display. Regards, Dave. :-))

Colin    :-))

Not a problem Colin. I use a DX7 on my Patrol Boat but mainly use the Tx for my F3B Gliders.
Besides, all that extra mixing and on/off switching are great to experiment around operating different accessories etc.

Does anyone on the forum have Robbe Najada been told from another thread that at full throttle they have a tendancy to roll over on the starboard side.
