Gemini 600 Catamaran
« on: August 24, 2010, 10:50:06 pm »

Has anyone had any experiance of this model. I notice a couple of posts here about it but very little on its sailing.

I am considering it as 'its something different' but wonder how it handles on the water?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I would suggest you fit a large polystyrene ball to the top of the mast.
The boat is ok in no wind but blows over even in a gentle breeze.
A friend of mine built one but eventually gave up trying to make it sail, even fitted a lead keel.
Too small and you have to be very quick on the sail control to avoid a capsize.
Sorry better with a Micro Magic

Thanks Terry,
You've just saved me £150  :-))

I already have a Victoria and several smaller yachts including 3 footy's, I just fancied something that look different from the rest, cheers!  O0

Cats are a very different fish from mono-hulls.

Even the best models need some sophisticated tweaks to trim them so the have less of a tendency to flip.

But they are jolly fast.

Are these Gemini 600's for £149 on ebay, the same as those advertised by Lesro models, the Lesro Gemini, for about £80?
Cheers
Nige

Sorry, I actually meant are the Lesro models better than the the 600's when it comes to falling over  :-)
