New on here and saying Hi from the N.W. UK
« on: September 06, 2010, 02:14:05 pm »

Hi all  :-)

New on here but certainly not used to forums, mostly technical, Models of all sorts ( I fly Control line aerobatics and combat as well as a bit R/C) Gardening, Brewing, Steam engines etc etc.

Just a quick  %) post to introduce myself (As suggested by Roger in France"  :-) )

I am 56 (feel around 26 in the head) and live in Chester in the N.W. UK

A couple of years ago I sold my Prestwich CMB67 powered Multi racer ( I won a 1st at a comp in the N.W. UK with that setup in 2005  :-)) ) It went because I was just not using it much at the time and I needed money for a new engine for my VW Camper.

Now the wind (and rain) in the UK during the last few years has been so bad that I VERY OFTEN cannot go flying.
So, I bought another boat  :D - Now at least I can indulge my interest in engines even when it is blowing a gale.
It is a very nice, aprox 33 inch Fairey of some type with a rather OTT Irvine 61 in it.
Have only had it out twice (after spending some time familiarising myself with the set-up and making some slight mods to suit my tastes in linkages etc).

Seems ace so far  :-))

Pics to follow when I get home (where my camera is)
Hoping someone my know what Fairey it is, as it ain't quite the same as anything I have yet found on the web.

Byeeee for now

I sold my Prestwich CMB67 powered Multi racer

I also had one of Dave Marles's multi racers, an Omega 20. I was involved in a crash and didn't have the heart or the money (at that time) for rebuilding.

Welcome

Hi Russell,

Don't encourage 'Oor Wullie', he will only end up getting himself into bother  %).

Besides, he has been 'very quiet and well behaved' of late, so, he must be due a bit of free expression soon.

Fear not though, the old Wullie is still there, waiting to be released.

Good to have you back Wullie, keeping an eye on things again.

A very warm welcome John.

...But Chester in the NW of the UK?

It's barely a third of the way up! AND it's east of Edinburgh!  %%

By my reckoning, this means you live the southeast!  :-))

Chester in NW..mm, maybe he thinks that the UK stops at Carlisle/Berwick upon Tweed, but as for Cheshire being in the NW,if it s then i,d better re-map mySat-nav,

Thanks for the nice welcome folks - looks like a great forum - I like good friendly forums  :-))

I also had one of Dave Marles's multi racers, an Omega 20. I was involved in a crash and didn't have the heart or the money (at that time) for rebuilding.

Welcome
Tony

Ahh, I liked my Multi, but though the Canal Dock Basin here in Chester is quite big, it's not really big enough for a 11cc racing multi that was clocked at over 65 mph  on a good day :o

Here is heavy duty "action shot" =

:embarrassed: - well sadly it is the only shot I have of it for some reason -  :embarrassed:

A very warm welcome John.

Andy

Southeast =  :o - but it certainly ain't the Midlands   ok2

Off now to find the best place to post pics of my new toy boat  :-)
Hoping to get an I.D. on what it is and whether it was a kit or scratch built etc.
