It's the so-called "France switch" - there to make the Tx compliant with French 2.4GHz regulations. The switch must be pushed up (farthest away) from the trainer socket to comply with UK usage.

Hello stuart. Ive got the Futuba 2.4 6ex. Works well, but. When i brought mine there was only Spectrum or Futuba on the market.
There is now a much bigger range of sets all of witch are far cheaper. Radio link,or Planet for instance. Futuba is pricy. The Forum
will give you plenty of information on alternatives. John.

Hi Stewart, I haven't actually used the radio properly yet, as the boat I am building has a long way to go until it is finished. The only use it has had is to set up the electrics in the boat which proved extremely simple.
BTW where do you sail?  :-) :-)

Hi Stewart!
'
I've got a 6EX - I tend to sail the Seawind Yacht with it when at Gresford.

Any questions, ask away! Though assuming its mode 2, throttle on the left stick, the rudder plugs into channel 1, and the speed controller plugs into channel 3.

If you decide to convert the puffer to 2.4ghz as well, you can get a high quality third party receiver for thirty quid all in here:

http://www.giantcod.co.uk/frsky-fasstcompatible-tfr8-receiver-p-405326.html

Oh! and by the way, we're sailing every Saturday for the next month or two - because we can!!  (as well as every Wednesday).
