We have several Traders attending and if any other traders want to come then email/phone me or Richard as soon as you can. It would be great to have you along side the traders and of course us for the last October Show - this year!!
We will be in the Beale Centre - NOT OUTSIDE!!!!!!
Richard is again offering free tickets for the first TEN Exhibitors from each Club as he did in May. Contact me with your names as soon as you can - closing date will be 31/9/10
So talk to everybody that may want to come.
My contact details are 01323 503336 or [email protected]
All of the Traders including ourselves look forward to seeing you there.

Hi Guys,
Just to update the traders list. We now have two more - Marks Model Bits and Warbirds. Mark you know and Warbirds is a chap who will have Aeroplanes on his stand.
I have also been told by Richard that there will be a pile of round tables for the use of exhibitors. The ground is a bit soft alongside the lake at the moment, but it does dry out quickly. The camping field is firm.
There should also be a full size steam launch to inspect on a trailer behind the railway station.

Hi guys, yes it's me again,
The final info is that the show is from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm both days.

The side gate to the left of the front entrance is where you turn up and give your name and Club. The person on the gate will check against their list - if your on the list, you will be handed an entrance pass, please keep it as you will need it to get in and out on both days, then go straight in. If not on the list, you will be guided to the main entrance. We will be keeping it low key and fast as possible so that you don't hang around too long.

Once in you should find ROUND tables in a pile which are for exhibitor use. Please only take what you need as there many Exhibitors for the show.

Please do not take any of the long tables as they will be required by the traders. If any of these are not required - I will offer them to exhibitors to use.

There will not be the usual food man there but there will be discounted prices for Exhibitors with there pass at the tea room (so I have been told by Richard)

We are looking for a good show this October as we are getting calls and emails everyday requesting Passes.

Any traders looking for a nice show in the warm on the 2/3rd October (that's next week!) GET IN TOUCH WITH RICHARD HOWARD or me at 01323 503336 email [email protected]  ASAP as the trestle tables have to be ordered.

Just remember - if you are exhibiting have a nice weekend in the very best of venues - get free entry!!! and get free camping!!!!

I look forward to hearing from more of you.
Best Regards

Model Boat Festival
Saturday 2nd to Sunday 3rd October 2010

Model boaters will be exhibiting their boats throughout the two day event and there will be a chance to see many
of the models sailing on the lake during a programme of themed sailing times.

As usual a wide range of trade exhibitors will be in attendance providing visitors with a chance to purchase a complete
ready to sail model or just the components they need to complete their latest modelling project.

For more information please contact: Richard Howard on: 0118 984 5207 or Ian Hughes on: 0118 979 3310

Or visit: www.mtmbc.co.uk

Event Details:

Date: Saturday 2nd - Sunday 3rd October
Time: Daily from 10am-5pm
Admission: Normal admission charges apply

http://www.bealepark.co.uk/events/index/?id=34

Hi Guys,
it seems from Martin's comments posted on this thread that the above show is being organised by MTBC and Ian Hughes. WRONG. I am dealing with this show and any requests for tickets must come through me. It would seem that there is info on the mtbc site about the show including comments that normal admission charges apply. This has been taken from the Beale website but only refers to the general public or anyone without a show pass. So please don't worry, if you have contacted me about free entry - you will get it at the gate on the day. All requests about free entry etc. must be directed to me. It seems that some comments are coming from sources that are not quite on the button!!! with regard to the show. It is NOT being organised by the MTMBC or Ian Hughes. Ian Hughes has offered his help thankfully at the show and I am very much obliged for it.

It's me again - the old fart!
Just time to set the rules for the show.

Free overnight camping & caravanning pitches will be available. This is a bare grass camping field with only water available. The Elsan Point is located next to the outside toilets. (where can you get free camping in Berkshire!!)

'Free sailing' will the order of the day subject to the usual frequency control and safety regulations. All model boaters who wish to operate their models on the lake must have with them:

- a valid Public Liability insurance certificate
- a valid boiler and/or gas tank test certificate for steam powered vessels
- transmitter aerials protected with a suitable 'safety ball' to avoid possible eye injuries.

No transmitters are to be operated anywhere within Beale Park unless the operator is in possession of the appropriate frequency peg obtained from the frequency control tent. ALL 2.4 ghz transmitters must book operating slots at the frequency control tent even though they do not need to have a frequency allocated!

If there are any changes, I will post them here.

Grahan,

I assume that, as on previous occasions, a current MPBA membership card will be sufficient proof of insurance.

Hi Guys,
Its the old fart again!!
I have just had an email from Beale Park telling me that there will not be any round tables to use by exhibitors as they are not suitable to be used outdoors. So its back to bringing your own tables and chairs I am afraid - sorry!!

Ian hughes here from MTMBC.

I was at Beale Park this afternoon getting ready for the show tomorrow with Graham (Hunter Systems). Firstly just wanted to say well done and a big thank you to Graham for handling the free ticket allocation this time as I was out of the country on business during much of September.

I will be manning the side gate from 9.00-10.00 each day to allow exhibitors into the park. I have the list of names for those of you who have applied to Graham for a free admission passes. If your name is on the list you will be straight in.....if not I'm afraid you will be redirected to the ticket office to buy an admission ticket! The ticket office and show opens at 10.00am.

It was very wet here this afternoon and conditions at the park where exhibitors will setup are still okay under foot (alongside the tarmac path by the miniature railway as usual), BUT we may not be able to let you bring your cars on-site and park up behind your gazebos if it rains much more overnight. In which case we will make our MTMBC boat trolleys available at the entrance if you need to transfer heavy items and your boats into the park from your cars in the car park.
If you do get to bring your cars in, they will either need to be removed back to the car park before 10.00 when the Park opens to the public, or else you will be stuck inside until the show closes at 5.00pm.

Please note there are definitely NO tables available from BP to use for displaying your models......you must bring all your own display equipment.

We are looking forward to a good weekend (weather permitting) and the chance to meet up with old friends again.

Hi Guys, guess who?
Here I am, camping in the car park at Beale Park, the field looked pretty manky but would have been ok. As we are the proud owners of a Transit van the thought of pullling a caravan off the grass on Monday is beyond comprehension. Next door is Ron Dean and his delightful wife Dawn living in their huge Yellow van. Further down is Tony Richardson and his mum and behind us is another trader - not met before. SHG, Mobile Marine Models and John from Proxon have opted for the good life in accommodation. Ian and Natasha from Component shop and couple of others will be here to set up early tomorrow morning.
Just a thought - all of the traders have or will be turning up despite the weather so to any of you guys are thinking of not going because of the bad weather - never mind but just think of the good time that you will be missing.
The forcast for tomorrow is DRY!!!!!
Regards
Graham and the rest of the mob here at Beale Park

I will confess to being influenced by the weather. The two boats I would have brought are scale and running them around the lake in heavy showers would not have done the upperworks and detail any good at all. Plus it would have been over a hundred mile round trip and I can visit the same traders and a lot more at Warwick next month. I'm afraid I'm at the stage where sailing my boats around the lake in a likely rainstorm doesn't hold too much appeal, obviously others felt the same.

Beale Park is a great venue but I do wonder if staging two two day events each year is pushing things a bit, especially when the second one is in the early Autumn when good weather is a bit doubtful to say the least.

I would prefer to see all the effort going into a really good single event earlier in the season.

We were away on the narrow boat at the time of the show.    Our original plan was to boat down to Oxford for a chinese meal and so that we could visit the show by train and taxi on the Sunday.   Our favourite Chinese "The Pink Giraffe" is in Oxford and while it takes 4 days to go there by boat and 45 minutes by car boating is more fun!     However we had a change of plan and ended up having a very lazy trip up to Foxton Locks and back.

I agree with Colin WRT the October Show.   I think it's a bit late in the year and the weather's a bit to unreliable.    I imagine bringing it forward to September might not fit with BP's other commitments but if that couldn't be done then I think that putting all the effort into a really good show earlier in the year would be better.

My other thought is whether there is any mileage in trying to formalise some of the on water displays a bit to give the public more of a show.   Some of you will know that I was responsible for the display programme on the outer lake for the IWA National Festival at BP in August.   I don't necessarily suggest booking display teams as such (though that would be good if BP would pay) but at least having boats displaying in an orderly way with a commentary giving the public more info.

I've not been for the last couple of years so if this is what now happens please forgive me for any "Grandmother and eggs" implications

Cheers

Guy
