It looks hell of a kit and sounds to have some very nice components, bet the copper plates will do your nut in but it sounds well worth the frustration.

What is the quality like do you think it is worth the money?

Quality of the kit is excellent.  Wood is good, laser cut parts fit, lots of brass bits on frets, different size cannons for the different gun types ( Full cannons for the gun deck even though most of them won't be seen ) Lots od drawings . one instruction book fot the hull and a separate one for the rigging, plus a third book for parts identification.
On one of the brass frets one etch was slightly too thin - Jokita replaced it, no problems, and on there webb site are more photos of the construction of Victory.
All in all - a good package and highly recommended.
You get what you pay for.

At last. Finished copper plating the hull. Plates stuck on with green Zap.
Also mounted the hull on its stand. A piece of shelving from B&Q with three pieces of 5mm Brass rod up into the hull through the keel.

Immaculate plating Ken, now we can see why we haven't had an update for a while.

Is the timber stand to stop Bob trying to get you to float it ?

Haven't really thought about what I'll do with it once it is finished.  But float it...NO. So don't get any ideas Bob.
I do know that her-indoors will go on about it being to big a boat. So guess I'll try and sell it once it is finished.

Photo shows finished gundeck gratings. Shot garlands are in place with cannon balls in them ( I only lost one cannon ball, it's somewhere in the bowels of the ship !!!). Companionway ladders in place, threads are the ends of the companionway guard rails. Two large cleats are in position on the inner bulkwards. The only real portion of this deck to be seen is through the centre part of the quarterdeck.

Next job is to make up the 30  12-Pounder cannons for this deck and rig the 12 central ones, given other tasks the "boss" has in mind, I expect this could take a couple of months

Guns fitted to gundeck. Only the central twelve are rigged, these are the ones seen through the opening in the quarterdeck

Support pillars for skid beams in place, also the bitt pins that go fore and aft of the mainmast.

Quarterdeck in place and planked.
Skid beams also in place and painted. The gundeck, through the skid beams, can be seen in the second photo.

Inner Bulwarks in and painted. Second level hull planking complete and painted.
Quarterdeck gunports lined and painted. Capping in place, except where the poop deck will be.
The screen under the poop deck is in place, the widows are glazed and the frames painted. In battle this screen was taken down so the aft three gunports could be fully used.

Next job is to put all the bits & bobs on this deck,  starting from the bow

Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to all of you

Keep this up and you will have a really beautiful model. I am a Victory builder too. Mine took me almost 3 years of which 1 year was on the rigging alone. Stil worth every minute.

Mishap or carelessness?

Re the main companionway. I had built the steps and put them to one side, then I edged the companionway opening.
So far so good. The I offered the steps to the opening to make sure it all fitted before putting up the ballustrade around the top.
Horror, I droped the steps down the companionway opening. unfortuneately they didn't come to rest on the deck below( the gun deck) but carried on down the lower companionway into the bowels of the ship where they became impossible to retreive even if I could get to see them.

Soooooo. I have to wait until JOKita are open in the New Year and  persuade them to let me have a new pair of ladder sides and then rebuild the steps.

The joys of modelling - ( My wife thought it funny !!!!!!!)

With your obvious modelling skills, have a go at making them yourself. You can always fall back on Jotika if not happy,

Gave Jokita a phone call re the ladder sides, no problem they sent me a ladder set FOC so now I'm back in business.
Got the kevels and shot garlands on the quarterdeck, companionway to finish off and have just started on the quarterdeck cannons.

Too bloody wet & windy for golf !!!!!

Very impressive. I just love to see such a glorious vessel built so well.

Just one point. The deck planking isn't shiny is it? May be the light on the picture so sorry if it is not. It should be matt.

Keep them coming,

It 's the light, Barry.  It is matt, but tends to photo almost as gloss.
