Which 2.4 to use, help
« on: September 24, 2010, 05:46:25 pm »

Hi

I will be buying a 2.4 Rx/Tx  for my model tug but I don't know which one to buy. I don't want to spend a lot of money on one but I need something reliable. At the moment I am thinking of buy one of the 4 channel 2.4 systems from Giant Cod or the the Planet 5 system. I only need a 4 channel but I don't know which is the better out of the two? Could I have some advice please.

Thanks

Some favour 1 some another.
I have 2 Giantcod transmitters and 8 receivers so you can tell which type I favour.

Hi Bob

Geeee that's a good advert. And have you ever had a problem with any of them? I must say there a very good price. Have you got the 4 channel one?

I have the Giant Cod system and its fine, however several of our club members have the Planet 5 system and it does appear to be better quality.

Nick,
No problems so far.
I have converted 1 transmitter to take a 9.6 volt transmitter pack and the battery lasts for several weeks sailing.
The other transmitter I have rechargeable AA's and this seems to last as well.
A standard Futaba charger charges the transmitter.
1 modification I always do to a ratchet throttle is to remove the back and find the neutral point on the ratchet and give this a rub with a triangular file to give the stick a neutral point.
This allows you to feel the neutral and set up any ESC's to that point.

Good idea with the ratchet Bob, I would do the same.
I agree, the Planet 5 looks the better but I have heard of a few problems with it.
