« on: October 02, 2010, 08:41:01 am »

Fancy Rolls-Royces being fitted with (faulty) BMW parts, whats the world coming to >>:-(

BMW own RR hence the connection.

Its 5,6,7, series V6/V12 models from what I read. My guess is anyone who can afford one of those will just buy a new one!

Imagine being shoved up the rear end at the traffic lights (more tea vicar?), only to find it was a £180,000 RR- you might just end up with a new car out of it!

My theory- go round looking for 09, 59 and 10 registered RR's and 5's,6's and 7's BMW's and nip in front of them quickly!!!!  %)

I dont think BMW make the actual parts Frankie  :-))

I mean, if a roller had a tyre blow out and crashed, would you blame RR or Dunlop (or whoever makes the tyres RR's run on) for the accident?

TBH, BMW took the decision to recall the cars without a VOSA notification. I know for a fact the VW group positively ignore a brake issue with their cars which VOSA is aware of but considers it outside their remit so VW owners are having to shell out nearly 1500 quid to rectify the fault  O0

there have been more bonnets flying open on Mk2 Renault Clio's than there has been RR made of the model being re called but Renault have not re called the Clio they just let the bonnets blow up on motorways.

PS we had TWO during that period that where Renault serviced and they where never checked nor where we contacted

Certainly not the ones that pass me on the A406 in London, the speed some of those travel they need parachutes to stop.

VW are notorious for not recalling. A few years ago Passat models had a nasty habit of the airbags going off if a Mobile phone was switched on without an external aerial. It only happened about 26 times, according to them, not enough to warrant a recall. Also about the same time, Mercedes Sprinters switched off the ABS when a Mobile was used, fun eh!!??

Spose it's no differant to one of Triumphs sports car dashboards bursting into flames with an untraceable fault when we had a car manufacturing industry?

BMW recalling 150,000 cars for some reason. If they say 150,000 then it is really double that number!

This appears to be the original recall. Perhaps that is what the poster a few posts back was referring to?
