Still in its crate at this point. Once I get the lifting team pressganged sometime next week  I'll get it up onto trestles and get some decent pics.

Andrew

I have one of these myself, still in kit form though. Here a pic of it next to a Sheerline Akula

Do you need the number of a good chiropractor?

Decided on a change of plan.

The only thing I've never been keen on with the Eden / Sheerline design is the end cap arrangement & after trying it on the Alpha, even though there were no leaks etc, I've decided to change to a push on end cap arrangement.

The idea is that the O ring will be backed up by brass rods as before, this will maintain the integrity of the Ballast tank.

As I have the whole WTC in bits, I have also made a new ballast tank, incorporating the re design end cap / O ring arrangement.

Although this put back the build by an afternoon, I think it was worth the trouble. This has been a "Design & build" project and I would rather arrive at a design that doesnt have me pulling it apart it 3 months time!

Finally, I will re drill for the brass rods, wiring tube & fill / drain pipe & re attach the wiring.  For comparisom the original tank is in the background. I think it was time well spent & now have a better design for my Revell Gato WTCs

Update:

Took her to the pond today, all works well, batteries have been replqaced with 12v nimhs in the bow similar to my Trafalgar, diving / surfacing time less than 10 seconds with plenty of ballast in reserve.  unfortunately, bad weather meant limited time on the water & no pic's, but I will post some as soon as I get the chance.

I've tried Pistons, compressors, & Gas, this ballast system is, in my humble opinion the simplest to build & the most reliable, now to put one into my Gato.

Excellent!

How did you do the waterline and other deck markings?

Martin.

Waterline:

I placed the boat in the bath, trimmed to waterline, sprinkled the watter with Talc, when you lift the boat out you are left with a waterline, this was masked from the top & scum line built up with various greens, blues, greys etc (airbrushed). simple really.

All markings are masked & airbrushed after the first varnish coat.

I'll do a how to thread if you like.
