How to find amps on model boat electrics
« on: September 18, 2010, 02:11:37 pm »

Hello all,

How do I find out what amps are being used on my boats, It's been hit and miss in the past, I have a boat coming which will have 2x 585 motors on 7.5V batts. I was wondering as you do, could I get away with a single ESC?

My tug has a CEM 900 high torque motor with 12V lead battery and a 15 Mtroniks ESC.

Any diagrams would be great.  ;)

Thank you

The only way to be certain is to connect up an ammeter in line with one of the motor wires.
Correctly installed with reasonable grease in the propshaft these SHOULD pull about 3-5 amps.

HI Bluechrisp.
I can send you a hand written set of notes on how to amp you motor with pix done one already for a forum member.

Normally it would be printed but my printer software does not want to play with vista

It will be in the post on mon.

there will be some pix sent in the e-mail these are for reference with the notes

                                                 cheers Frank

get one of these, best fifteen quid I have spent, saved me a fortune on new esc's! and really helped when seeing how efficient a certain prop/battery combo is. I leave it permanently in the boat and set to record max amp draw, and volts :-))
