how much snow is there in the UK now. is it everywhere or certain areas...
Everywhere. In most places in the South East, where London and the bulk of the population is, we have only had a couple of heavy snow days, leaving about 4" of snow. But it has stayed cold, so the snow has not melted.
Why is this a problem, you ask? After all, this sounds like a light Christmas snowfall. Alas, the authorities firmly believe in Global Warming, and so were completely unprepared to grit and clear snow. Months ago, the Met Office had officially said it was going to be warm. By the time they got their equipment in place the snow had had two or three days to turn into a sheet of ice covering everything, the railways had to stop, the airports were closed, etc...
Things are, by and large, working now. But a lot of people took quite a heavy avoidable hit....
