Thats Global Warming for you %% %% %%

Perfectly true!  Scientists have just come up with this one: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/11/101117114028.htm

The rule is - whatever the weather it's Global Warming (or their new one, Climate Disruption). Just keep paying for the grants with vastly increased fuel bills.

I wonder what the politicians will do when people start dying....

My Wife fell a couple of years ago and had 3 pins in her wrist, We still have them, they seem to be stainless steel, about 2 mm thick and the hook at one end ( So the Doctor has something to fix on when they were pulled out!!) looks as though it was bent by a Plumber!! pardon my ignorance, but what is SWMBO ? Is a Pally Duker the same as Dolly Push or Cackhanded?

To be Cackhanded in general  means to do things awkwardly or to be awkward, could meant left handed in some areas as well.

Get well soon, at least you have a free hand to open all your new modelling presents on Christmas. Leave a copy of Model Boat Magazine open to the item you want on the table and highlight your wish list, works for me. {-)

It is all over from north of Scotland to south of England, more forecast today in N W Scotland.  Good for the ski industry, this is my locality  www.cairngormmountain.com   Minus 20c in the village last night, minus 5c daytime yesterday , we are at North 57 further north than Moscow !  Of course chaos in the south of Englandshire where they call out the army if it freezes in the apple orchards of Kent.  O0 {-) {-) %% ;D :D {-) :} Hows your mitt?

Hi Essexto....  Are you by any chance left handed?
I ask this as I was taxi to a friend who had fractured fingers and wrist on his left hand after a fall in the house.
So two visits to the A & E, long waits, you know the story, but all of the 'arms in slings' were to the left arm / wrist.
I was curious as to how all (probably 15 or so) had a left arm injury.  This was apart from a few leg problems.
Its very slippery out locally at the moment so take care everyone, gravity is very quick!
regards to all, Roy

LB

The expression "Cackhanded" comes from Victorian days and the apprentices working in the mills. When they were locked in the dormitories at night, there were no washing facilities and the loo was a tub or bucket. They adopted the practice of using the right hand when eating and the left hand when for other tasks involving the use of the loo. Hence...........cackhand !!!   O0  O0

how much snow is there in the UK now. is it everywhere or certain areas...

Everywhere. In most places in the South East, where London and the bulk of the population is, we have only had a couple of heavy snow days, leaving about 4" of snow. But it has stayed cold, so the snow has not melted.

Why is this a problem, you ask? After all, this sounds like a light Christmas snowfall. Alas, the authorities firmly believe in Global Warming, and so were completely unprepared to grit and clear snow. Months ago, the Met Office had officially said it was going to be warm. By the time they got their equipment in place the snow had had two or three days to turn into a sheet of ice covering everything, the railways had to stop, the airports were closed, etc...

Things are, by and large, working now. But a lot of people took quite a heavy avoidable hit....
