Model reconstruction BISMARCK 1/100th scale
« on: October 31, 2010, 11:31:31 am »

Hi,

sorry - there seems to be a Bismarck influenza around ....  ok2

Ten years ago I started my research on BISMARCK and on christmas 2006 I started to cut the first parts . It will be a scale reconstruction and a static model of the March 1941 status of the ship. I researched and collected quite some material on BISMARCK over the last decade and I base my reconstruction soley on this material.

I started with two artillery command post, a few details are still lacking. Hope you´ll like it! :-)

Artillery command post located in the foretop (Aluminum sheet, brass, styrene):

A few parts (PE parts) are still missing. I also need to finish the camouflage.

Bye!

Bernd a very impressive  start there is so much detail you would think you were working in 1/48 or bigger.

1:50th scale would be great ..... but my ship yard is too small ...  ok2

Hi,

a jump in the timeline... last night´s work on my hull:

Besides drawing PE-parts I did some basic work on the reconstruction of the forward log ("speed measuring installation") on my Bismarck.

Here is what I researched so far:

- the device worked on the principle of dynamic pressure
- it was retractable (approx. 1.000 mm)

Bye,
Bernd.

Hi,

I glued the seaboxes (cooling water outlet) of all 3 turbines into the hull bottom. Some finetuning is still necessary. The grills will be PE parts.

Merry Christmas!

Hi,

a short sequence of pictures showing a few steps of adding a seachest to the hull:

Pic 1: Determining the location of the seachest using frame numbers and waterlines.
Pic 2: Adding the opening for the seachest.
Pic 3: Fitting the seachest into the hull. Be sure to adjust the seachest to conform the bilge.

Bye now,

Bernd.

Hi,

I started to add the starboard seabox of the cooling water inlet for the turbine and the bilge keel to my hull.

Pictures show a first dry fitting of all parts.

Hope you like it,

Bernd.

Hi,

I fixed the bilge keel to the hull with five M2-screws and epoxy. Puttied and sanded it once.

Now it´s time for a barbeque ....  %%

hi mate
looking at more like 1/4":1ft ish

but I have a set of plans for 3ft or so and scaled a set while I was waiting for those that came out at 4ft  or so.
a aquandry now ....do I realy want a model at 4th.....transport etc..........
I have a 12 volt gell cell I was going to use so that may decide .....I will have to see if it will fit in the 3ft plans :)
that would be a lot easier......and bigger would not help really as there is not much fine detail like in the big warships.
your's is more like an engineering feat :) :) :)
enjoy

Hi,

sorry for the delay! 4 ft will be hard to handle alone, even 3ft is a challenge!

Bye now,

Bernd.
