NV Northwestern plans
« on: November 06, 2010, 12:18:00 pm »

Anyone know how or were I would get plans for this?  The wife would like me to build it one day.

I have contacted them via the website but with no response as yet :(

Assume you mean FV Northwestern? I'd like to build her too. Think going to struggle to get proper plans. I record Deadliest Catch on HDD player each week, sometimes get a good shots of her from different angles. I've been pausing it and taking photos and building up a gallery of her for future use. (sad really I know :embarrassed:) Can get a lot of info on her and work out what's what this way I've found. There are photos for sale of her on their website, some nice merchandise too, I've had a hoodie and t-shirt! I bought a 5 ft fishing trawler on ebay earlier this year, she wanted some attention but I had her because she'd be an ideal base for FV Nortwestern, hull has very similar shape and lines. Dave.

Hi,

I'd love to model this boat also. The real boat has actually been lengthended twice, possibly 3 times and so if you do ever see any plans for her, they may be incorrect to the vessel today.

That should make it an interesting build. Thought she looked stretched, going to be a case of getting a model to look right rather than 100% accurate I think. Dave.

What was the fishing boat hull you bought?  I think maybe modifying an existing one may be better/easier than starting from scratch

One of the members on RCgroups was building up an FV Northwestern, however, between work, and
flight school, his project got a bit stalled. We haven't heard from him for a while...

It was scratchbuilt by some chap about 10 years ago with ply framework & plank construction, the guy I had it off didn't have much information on it. Not got a photo to hand of it as it's buried in the loft. It's about 5ft long overall, it'll want totally stripping back to the bare wood, new deck putting on etc. It should make a good base for Northwestern. I'll post some pics when I can, Dave.  :-))
