DENNY TEST TANK, DUNBARTON, SCOTLAND
« on: November 11, 2010, 09:37:22 pm »

The Denny Test Tank in Dunbarton is situated on the banks of the river Clyde near Glasgow. This historic site is a part of The Scottish Maritime Trust and is world famous as the very first commercial ship model experiment tank. This facility pioneered the construction and evaluation of commercial hull designs  through the use of precise scale models. The testing tank remains in use and is the length of a football pitch.

Perkasaman the test tank here in Tasmania is about 4 to 16 thousand dollars for test tank useage depending on what test you would like to do so we do our testing on the Derwent River in Hobart as and when required tassie48

Up to a couple of years back the tank was still being used by Strathclyde University for experimental work before lack of funding caused them to drop out. A pity, the fees were very useful for the Museum although highly unlikely to have reached Tasmanian levels.
