Since been published that the engineers body was found washed up on a nearby beach.

The captain is still missing but is now presumed dead. Its gone from a rescue mission to a recovery mission. They are currently trying to right the vessel with use of a crane barge.

Divers have stopped searching for the master of the capsized tug at Hook of Holland. The body of the Belgian could not be found.
“Last night the tug was shifted to the Waalhaven”, says a spokesman of the police. Here Salvors will try to upright the tug. The planning was that this will be finished by tomorrow morning.

The tug capsized last Thursday at the entrance of the New Waterway to Rotterdam. Three crew members were rescued. Polish engineer body was later found on the beach. The Belgium captain is still missing.

The on Thursday at Hook of Holland capsized tug has been turned yesterday. That says a police spokesman Monday. Only a part of the tugs wheelhouse is shown above the water in the Rotterdam Waalhaven. Today the tug will be pump dry.

The past days Smit Salvage try to turn the tug, but several attempts failed. The onboard computer of the tugboat is now for research to the Dutch Forensic Institute who will read the computer. This information should help in investigating to the cause of the accident.

Today the tugboat will be lifted till the deck is above the water. After she will be pump complete dry. It also show whether the captain is still missing in boat. According to a spokesperson for the company, the tugboat then will put into a drydock for further investigation. “The company has no control over the procedures and must wait until the investigation is complete.”

The tug “FAIRPLAY-22” which capsized in Rotterdam on 11th November during the assistance of an incoming ferry has been refloated by Smit Salvage with the help of their sheerleg “Taklift 7”.
After the remaining water had been pumped out of the tug,a search-team tried to locate the still missing Captain inside the tug but was not successful. The master remains missing. Our thoughts are with the families of the two Fairplayers who perished in this tragic accident.

The Police investigation has been finalized and the authorities are presently evaluating their findings, however, the cause of the accident is still unclear at this moment. Meanwhile “FAIRPLAY-22” has been released by the authorities to its owner Fairplay Towage. The tug will be docked shortly and both, owners as well as ship’s insurers will survey the casualty to judge if it still can be repaired. Fairplay Towage, however, has already decided that the name “FAIRPLAY-22” will never be used in the Fairplay-fleet again.

The missing Captain of the tug “FAIRPLAY-22” which capsized in Rotterdam on 11th November has today been found on the beach close to Hoek van Holland.

The 46-years-old commenced his sea-career in 1980. Since 1987 he worked permanently as tugboat-Captain, first in Antwerp and Zeebrugge as well as on various seagoing tugs. Via the Dutch crewing agency TOS in Rotterdam he took command beginning of this year on “Fairplay-22” which was predominantly employed in the Port of Rotterdam, assisting seagoing ships. In the accident also the Polish engineer lost his life. Three crew-members survived the tragic accident.

“Fairplay-22” was about to assist an inbound English ferry when she capsized. The police investigation has been finalized although still no report about the exact cause of the accident has been issued.

Presently the casualty is being surveyed at a Dutch shipyard by insurance and owners representatives to estimate the possible repair-costs. Fairplay Towage in Hamburg meanwhile stated that the name “Fairplay-22” will never be used again in their fleet of tug-boats.
