Scale and RC boat mag
« on: February 11, 2007, 11:33:24 pm »

Any one know what's happening with the American mag Scale and RC boats? Their way behind in getting issue No4 out and my e mails to them go unanswered.

I know that the Editor of the magazine visits this Forum, so you may get an answer.

There has been a huge amount of criticism and complaint about the production schedule - on another Forum. However, everyone agrees that the magazine is very good, when it arrives.

I think creating a new magazine for a very specialised market is a difficult and demanding task. I once edited a professional association's monthly magazine and so I have some idea of the struggle and effort involved. I guess the producers are struggling but let us hope they can overcome their problems and produce a worthwhile magazine as some of the existing GB magazines are not top notch. But that is just my view. As Martin says, "What do I know?".

Roger,

Do you read any of the French magazines? I have seen all three now, and they all seem to be biased towards sail. Some  quite interesting models but not much construction detail. Some of the kit prices look attractive compared to UK, with the Euro a little weak against the pound as it is now now.

Yes, I occasionally see the French magazines. In my club we swap magazines - my GB ones are very popular! However, the French magazines are quite "old fashioned" and do not always pay much attention to the things which interest me.
