The current project calls for a lot of wood gratings which I intend to make myself. I note that commercially available wooden gratings are usually walnut and I have also seen recommendations for bass.
Before going to the expense of buying the wood, can anyone confirm that walnut/bass are the best woods to use from the point of easy machining without splintering or are their better choices?
