Hi,

Does anyone know what plastic filler is? Is it a special type of filler that is used with model making?

Thanks

I use some stuff called "Squadron White putty" - it seems to stick to most anything.

humbrol do a tube called plastic filler specifically for plastics. it fills easily and dries quick and is easily sanded without making a mess of the surounding plastic. it is used by the plastic modellers and is redily available.  regards sub.

Milliput is also good, as is Davids Isopon P38 - both are two-pack components, the latter is quick to set (10min at room temperature).

Make your own by putting small bits of strene in a bottle a pouring some styrene solvent over it and leave over night, the bits disolve and make a thick filler, adjust with more or less bits or solvent.

Seeeemple.

And "thick glue" for ABS is ABS shavings dissolved in MEK ( Ketone). A good one for styrene was Trichloretylene used both for capilliary action as a thin glue and with bits added as Len says, for a thicker one.

Only problem with making your own with styrene shavings is that you can melt the surrounding styrene unless you get the consistency 100% right (how do I know that?!). Safer (IMHO) to use filler - I get Squadron from my LMS, Paisley Models.
