I have been running a Torpedo 850 in a 42 inch long fast launch for the past three years. I am using 12 nimh cells in series. electonize 30 amp speed controller and an X40 prop. The measured current drain is 18A at full throttle while holding the model in the water at the pondside. I fitted a water cooling jacket to the motor after the first few outings as it ran a bit hot. No problems after three years of sailing.
