What to do if you can't contact a supplyer
« on: December 05, 2010, 08:01:38 pm »

I placed an order with a trader a week last Saturday. I have had no contact from them or the bits that i have ordered. They are on the traders list on Mayhem.
Any Ideas what I should do next?? :(( It is a pity as they are almost alone in what they sell so i would find it hard to buy elsewhere. At this point I don't want to name them but Maybe this time next week i will if I don't get a response of some short.

The bad weather may have caused problems, I'd give it until the middle of the week.

The post is titled "What to do if you can't contact a supplyer". You do not appear, in fact, to have tried to contact your supplier so what's the post about?

From a suppliers point of view:

(1) please remember that we are in the run up to Christmas. Fleetscale, and no doubt others, are inundated with orders from all over the world requiring goods for xmas.

(2) remember that most suppliers for this hobby are not overstaffed. If you sent an order by snail mail there is not the infrastructure to send an acknowledgemnt by post i.e. no secretaries polishing their nails and sending acknowledgments. Usually it's just one man and his dog.

(3) the law allows 30 days for mail order goods to be delivered

If you are concerned because you have not received the goods in just 7 days then you should ring or e-mail them.

Ordering for the model boat business is not like ordering from Amazon with their huge wharehouse of stock and hundreds of staff and delivery the day after you sent your order.

If they are based in many parts of the country they may be snowed up - unable to get to the factory, or get mail out.

Umm... phoning DURING office hours will be more likely to produce results....

OK
I have had an email today. All is very well. Hopfully i will get the bits soon as the mother in Law is buying them as a Christmas present for me. I am not saying who the supplier is as that would be unfair but it is NONE of the above.
SUBJECT CLOSED.
Ta very much.
