Looks home designed and made.
I think I would stay clear at that price, especially since the motor may be worn out.

Might be an old Vic Smeed design...

Hi it is a Remora hull by Vic Smeed, the v shaped screen base gives it away,
it should have a nice sleek cabin over the engine and r/c hatch,
what you have here was a common mod by late sixties multi racers
to allow easy access for fast starting and tweeking of the motor etc.

If the plan is not available on myhobbystore, look out for old Model Maker/Boats mags
on ebay, it was a free plan.

When i am home this evening i will send another reply with what month/year it was.

cheers Paul

Hi gwa84
the magazine you are looking for is Model Maker December 1964 this had Remora as the free Xmas plan,
the build article boat even had an OS 3.5cc engine the same as you purchase.
Below is a link to a website selling old mags, showing the model on the cover,
with the original cabin, unfortunately this website is out of stock at present,
but that mag comes up regularly on fleabay, has an unmistakably garish coloured cover.
The reason for my extensive knowledge of this model being, I've built one years ago,
and its on my wish list for future builds, lovely model handles really well,
one of the great 'Godfather of model boatings' better designs.
Regards Paul

your hoping the carrier hasnt been snowed in over the weekend ! as for the before and after photos thats a great idea , it makes a project more rewarding when  youn can look back at its condition before the restoration started ,  jon

Nostalgia time.

I've got an unfinished hull of a Remora stashed at my mum's place.
Must've started it around 1968 just before I became lost to rock'n'roll.
It was a challenging build as I recall; with mainly balsa bulkheads, just a couple of ply ones.
Difficult to stop it warping while skinning.

I've got 3 hulls there, I'll have to go get them someday soon.
One's a Fairey Swordsman, beautiful she is.

Good to see someone else restoring an older build of a Vic Smeed design. In my case it is a 'Slalome' and thanks to people here on Mayhem and a helpful e-bay seller I have the article series from 1962-3 and plan which I am using to refurb the model and make it look as Vic Smeed intended.

EDIT: Just had a quick look at ebay and found this - I believe it is what you are seeking (no connection to seller): http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Model-Maker-Magazine-December-1964-Vol-14-Issue-168-/230572268664?pt=UK_Magazines&hash=item35af2d9c78
