sorry HS93...but the English language is nearly as complicated as naval ordnance

1. the WIKKI bird [Ikkara] launcher whilst mounted on the deck & hence above water.....was actually controlled by the underwater people as thats where the 1/2 hearted WIKKI bird landed & then proceeded on its path  O0 {-) %% {:-{ :(( >:-o

2. somewhere back in time  :o :D someone also sold the system to the Argentinians & a few other unsuspecting navies........could the sales person have been Ronald McDonald?????????    %% %% ........Derek

PS...I had no dealings with those underwater things...... :P

Can you explain the remark please.?

I thought you may have had an idea what it was as you keep posting your badge ,and this was taken in Perth aus and was supposed to have been used by YOUR Navy.

HS93...I have re-read my posting from today at 09:14:35 AM as below....... :-) ...it's pretty simple in content & context & totally self explanatory.....Derek

PS1...unless you are talking about my spelling?... & yes the IKKI bird does have a double K....& hence we refer to the guided torpedo via a flying kite with a double bannger K  {-) {-)

PS2...our people also called the device a WIKKI bird   >>:-( %)

PS3...here is a snap of a real OZ .......IKKI bird launcher + bird on the guide arm......

No HS93...to the contrary....the coding of the Ikara missile as you have displayed....AS-GM-IK XXXXXX...in the Perth museum is certainly valid...but naturally a dummy...ie., real in every sence ...minus the explosive charge & electronics  :police:

Again... I had never worked on any Ikara weapons systems on our HMA vessels..... & only noted the livery of BLUE & GREY...........I trust the following WEB listing will clarify this point....Derek

An old RN friend told me that the only way an IKARA could sink a sub was if it was rolled off the deck above a stationary sub. :-))
