How well do servos work upside down?
« on: December 20, 2010, 10:13:55 am »

I am thinking of mounting my rudder servo upside down directly on to the center rudder horn (three rudders) going off the horn to the outer rudders , See image

What do you guys think?  Will it work

Cheers

Servos dont care which way they face.  The limit is being able to get at any linkages and fixings, because if you cant get at them, they will fail.
A while back, someone fixed a servo horn to the boats transom with the rudder fixed to the servo to make it look like an outboard.  That worked, as well.

Hi Andrew

Yes is the simple answer - a servo will normally work in any position ,on it’s side, upside down, and if you have a look at the RTTL 2751 built - I mounted the servo upside down on this model to save space and if you look at the 63 foot whale back build - you can see how I overcame the problem of connecting 3 rudders together.
