Hi folk, after being away from boat building for some 30 years i thought i better start again !!.
Looking for a ship to build , i came agross photo,s of MV Port Adelaide and knowing Cornwall
model ships carries the drawing for this ship, what better place to start.
Iv always liked cargo boats, have good lines and lots of detail
First move was to send for the drawing and have them enlarged from 160th scale to 80th scale
this gave a hull length of 6 foot 3 inches.
To make the bulkheads i transfared there shape onto thick card.
These templates where then used to mark out on 4 mm 3ply all 16 bulkheads.
Into the base of each was cut a 4mm slot some 20 mm in deapth, again the upper edge of
each bulkhead had a simular slot cut.
The side veiw of the keel was cut out of 4 mm ply having a deapth of 20 mm, alowing the bulkheads to sit on the keel
striaght lengths of 4 mm where placed in the top slot and used as a jig to keep the bulkheads in line
