After 3hours of runing,we did a timed run over 100 yards.
After doning the sums the ship was doing over 8mph.
We are going to do some more testing and next time a frend is lending us a speed gun.
This Sunday coming we are at Grays Thurrock navy day at Belhus Woods Country Park post code RM15 4XJ.

Re: The start of something new PRICE OF MOTORS
« Reply #154 on: August 29, 2011, 08:07:08 pm »

Hi Kenny, thank you yes it good fun now.
As for the price of the motors £39.52 each+p&p.Not a lot for a motor that over 5hp

http://www.giantcod.co.uk/epower-bl5345-195kv-brushless-outrunner-motors-p-402690.html

Then there is the price of esc's £71.01 each+p&p. this because i am running 36volts

http://www.giantcod.co.uk/seaking80ahv-brushless-boat-version-p-405851.html

This one would do the job if you are running up to 22volts at £49.18 each

kind regards

That's great Alan. Thank you for the info.  As you know, my 2 ton Lifeboat only potters around the lake with no wash to speak of.  :embarrassed:

I have scooped out a lot of surplus structures with the aim of lightening up the old girl and have been looking to go brushless.  Your video was really something and showed what could be done.  You give inspiration to us old guys.   O0

Cheers

Looks great, Wake looks much closer to scale

5.3 Hp 3900 watts, 110 amps, 3 hours running on 24 AH ok2 Methinks the actual amp draw is a lot less :}, I would love to stick a clamp meter on it at full throttle.

Cheers

Hi Nick,Thank you for your comments.
We were on  3/4 throttle most of the time.
On full throttle she did not go faster,so i think we are at the hulls limit.
We have enough speed to try for the 24 hour distance record.
We are going to do more testing soon.

Hi everyone,
Just come up for lunch because I feel like I have got my eye balls resting on my cheeks. %%
I have been down in the workshop making up the grills for the model.
Will post some pictures later of the finished product.
Even missing out on the lake today, that is how keen I am.

This will be its first time on the water this year.
We are looking forward to this show as we have to date not travelled to this part of the country.
As a 1:32 scale model it should look good with all the tugs that go to this show.

« Reply #173 on: February 23, 2012, 10:37:52 pm »

Hi everyone,
The date and venue for the Guiness World Record attempt has now been set.
The venue will be at Mote Park Maidstone on Saturday 21st July 2012.
We are hoping to start at around 10.30am and finishing 10.30am on Sunday 22nd July.
We will be using the finish of the challenge to open our club, Cygnets Model Boat Clubs,
annual regatta, Boats on the Mote.
You are more than welcome to come along and support us and also if you are coming on
the Sunday you are more than welcome to attend Boats on the Mote. (I.C. welcome).
At Boats on the Mote there will be a buffet in the afternoon for a small charge.
Dont forget we will be putting the type 45 on the water for the first time this year at
Ellesmere Port Boat Museum on the 3rd and 4th March.
Look forward to seeing you at either of the events.

kind regards
