Gingyer she is going to make a great model, I will be interested to follow the build - Its a typical british design though - if it had been German or S Korean or whoever
for the same sized hull they would have fillted a 76mm main gun a quad Harpoon mounting and a short range S.A.M. which would have been more suitable for the
Falklands Island guardship but I do like the shape of the hull and by all accounts it is a pretty good sea boat.

Hi Gingyer,

I was so much looking forward to building the same Clyde, but alas it does not look like this is likely anymore. I am so sad to have been let down so badly  <:( <:(

I will watch your build with lots of interest and a little envy as well.

Good luck with the build and merry Christmas to you and yours.

Gingyer, (from one to another) ok2

judging from Andrew's post (above), you've got a rare beast there!

I take it she is 1:72 scale?

Hi there,
Thanks for the coments I hope I can do this model justice

Yarpie, it is 1:48 scale so it is about 62" long and 11.5" wide  :o
My friend has a hull also but due to a one sided discusion between a door and the hull he is making the hull as
the Severn. when we put the hull into the water to work out ballast, we found they need at least 7x 12v7Ahr batteries to bring it down close
to the waterline O0

ment to post the props here they are

against a normal sized mouse

I have been working on the quarter deck on the Clyde.
Normally I just make it look the part on my models but due to the size of it (1/3rd of the model) and the fact you can see in it clearly
it has alot of beams that cross the top and all the bulwark supports it needed to be done a bit better thn my usual
this picture shows the actual ship

Here is an update of it so far of the model

Despite the pros and cons over availability of Sirmar product over the last 18 months, there is no denying that there is a rich variety of superb models left out there, built over the years, which we would not have had without the Sirmar range. HMS Clyde looks like it will soon add to this heritage of models.
Good luck with the build and heres hoping that we see the Sirmar range back in some form in the near future... I always fancied a 1/48 V & W Class Destroyer!!
