27mhz RX Antenna wire length
« on: December 28, 2010, 02:23:22 pm »

I have one and the wire has broken off as it leaves the casing so it needs to be replaced.  I know the wire length is quite important so what should it be?

Its the only 27 on I have so I dont have anything as a reference (all my others are 40's

The length is not too critical for boating use. Somewhere between 27 to 30 inches should be fine.

If you use an ariel of the piano wire type with a spring loaded bottom, its best to get a bit of cotton and
use it to measure round the coils to see what length is taken up by the coil.

Best to be on the safe side
