I'm about to start building a model of Corvette HMS PICOTEE & would like some information regarding the length over all, beam & was she short or long forecastled ?
This will be my first grey ship project & any help would be appreciated.

HMS PICOTEE. Corvette. Flower Class, built Harland and Wolff 19th July 1940. Sunk 12th August 1941 by U 568 off Iceland with no survivors.

I would imagine her dimensions would be the same as all Flower Class Corvettes. Revell produce a good 1:72 scale kit of the 'Flowers'.

The attached image of HMS PICOTEE (K 63) is pretty rare and I've only seen one other (starboard side).

Also, it may be possible to get a cutaway drawing of HMS PICOTEE from Navy News, which would indicate that she may have a short foc'sle.

Flower class spec

Displacement 940 tons (standard) 1170 (full load)
Length (pp) 190' Length (oa) 205' Breadth 33' Draught (fwd) 7' 9" (aft) 14' 10"
Max speed 16 knots

A good source of plans /information would be

http://www.lambert-plans.com/

He does numerous plans of the different types, well worth a phone - very helpful.

Also recommend 'Flower class corvettes' by John Lambert / Les Brown

Thanks for the information, chaps !
I've been offered the loan a copy of the original 1940 drawings from Harland and Wolff, which is a result ...!
The build will start as soon as I move into my new workshop SWMBO permitting !

Regards

Hi Noah, We've just completed our Picotee model project, and there are only 3 photos of her in existence from what I can gather. She also went through a couple of refits it seems.  We were unable to get Harland and Wolff plans, but got some really excellent drawings from John Lambert at http://www.lambert-plans.com/ If we can help with what we have learned, please let me know.

Good Luck!
