Yes, our insurance covers each individual member throughout the UK and Europe for inland and coastal waters up to £5 million Public Liability, we also have Employers cover up to £10 million.
However BMPRS have introduced a limit of 50.8cc on Petrol motors (D class) which allows for twin 26 (25.4cc) Zenoah's, Sikk's, RCMK's and the like, this rule must be adhered to or the insurance may become invalid.
I very much doubt you will find a less expensive membership fee to join a club, society or association, we offer good value for money and we believe in fair and good honest racing.
It's very easy to join, just download the membership form from our website www.bmprs.co.uk and follow the instructions on it

As Bill says pool noodles are great for flotation, an Apache would require much the same as in the photo of Bill's Stealth, you will note that Bill has tie wrapped them in so they don't float away should the lid come off. One opposite the tuned pipe and then a load cut and shaped to fit in the void between the front of the hatch and the bow is usually ample. Don't forget to add flotation to the hatch cover as well.  O0

Just 2 poole noodles in an apache !!

is that all it takes to keep an apache afloat ?

Oh i was thinking about 4, ramming them in etc   ha ha

how long are these noodle things ? and diameter etc, as ive not seen them.

I imagine they help with keeping sound down a bit as well from hull shell echo etc.

Right , where can i find a kid swimming, so i can nick his noodles  <*< {-)

Phil
I had two noodles in my Makara.(the red Boat) I have fitted two in my Stealth boat. As Scoop said it is well worth fitting some to the lid. I remember a chap comming to Stevenage one day and he lost the brand new lid at the bottom of or lake. Now said person had to order and paint a new one. About 2 years latter or lake was neted for the fish and his lid was pulled up from the lake botton. It got wores as he pensioned off the boat  from racing just as it was found. Opp's!

Well my hatch is on a hinge, but accidents can happen i suppose and i couldnt get a new lid for mine as
moulds for these have long gone.

It just seems too good to be true that 2 noodles will do the job.

Ill definitely get a few, and fit to both my power boats
i think i need 5

4 for the boats,
and a spare incase i need a kid to swim out and get the boat back  :-))

Ill be searching the poundshop for these from now on.

(and before anyone says anything, i know i need the red ones coz theyre faster)    {-)

As I am not a powerboat racer does anyone have a sugestion where to insure my boats? or does the BMPRS also cover those of us that just like to potter around on the bank with life in the slower lane.

MPBA Insurance is comprehensive but you have to join the Association. Current annual subscription is £21 which includes the insurance. http://www.mpba.org.uk/insurance.html

If you don't belong to an MPBA affiliated club then you can join via the Countrywide club which caters for individual modellers.

Hi Lord Bungle,

Yes BMPRS insurance does cover those modellers that just wish to potter around.

Our joining fee is £10 and then £8 at renewal, our membership year is January to December. If you would like to know how to join please go to our website www.bmprs.co.uk  click on the 'About BMPRS' button then click on 'Membership'
Our insurance covers UK and Europe inland and coastal waters, please be aware that not all club/association insurances give this type of cover, some have limitations on engine capacity, some do not cover running on seawater.

Hi Uncle Albert, yes it covers all model boats (except gas turbine powered) that are incapable of carrying a person (eg: the very large models that people sit inside  {-)) and if a model is IC powered it must comply with BMPRS rules regarding maximum engine capacity.

Why not tap Delboy or Rodney for a tenner and come and join us.  :-))

Well you have till the 31st to get that £8 to us Martin or it's gonna cost you a tenner  {-) {-) {-) :-))

Don't forget fellow BMPRS members renewal needs to be made by 31st Jan or your membership fee will revert to the full price of £10
