You do all realize that if the Lib Dems get their wish over Proportional Representation, then you will nearly always have a  Coalition Govt in future? I cannot rember the last time that one Party had over 50% of the vote, which will be needed to have a one Party Govt? Also PR will also allow some fringe Paries to achieve the 5% Mark and gain seats. HMMMMMMM Interesting do you think? Raveing Loony Party, Nationalist, Extreme Religous Parties. Wow!!
Ahem, we DO have a Nationalist government in Scotland. You may be thinking of BNF or BNP in England, no I was right BNf

If I run for PM I think Ill be honest

"If I'm elected I'm going to line my own pockets at the expense of the electorate..... I'm going to set up quangos for all my friends and family and give them "expense" accounts.  And then when there is no more money I will hire my wife on a generous salary (plus expenses) to look under and behind everyones sofa

As they say "Honesty is the best policy"

And If anyone says anything ill just say "It was like this when I got here"

Please return to Britain. You appear to have all the attributes needed to be come one of our politicians. Bit worried about the
honest bit. This now appears to be a defunct requirement in parliament. John.

Hmm.. I remember a lawyer, who reputedly took a massive pay cut,to become Prime Minister.

I wonder why anyone would do that.... Unless there were lots of PERKS...such as expenses, bribes, and the potential for some insider trading.

Off course when you retire, you do get a good pension, and you could do lecture tours and write your own memoirs...A religious charity might make a penny our too if pitched to the right people.... {-)

Not for me this sound like a lot of work :} Investment banking seems a lot less trouble and if it all goes wrong.. you can always get the tax payer to bail you out.  :-))

Pss I'm not sure about the language in the previous post even if the poster was trying to make a point :police:

Another big job opportunity for ex PMs and Ministers it to become non-executive directors of large companies. This give you 50-100k/yr for a few days work per month.
It allows big companies to plug into a big network.

Here in Germany there are 600 Mps, 300 are elected by Direct Vote, the rest by useing how many % of the Voters voted for the Party. We have 2 voting papers, so you can Elect an MP   of one Party if you think they are good for your area, but vote for another Major Party with the second vote. Is that understandable?Well it works here.

So parties are written into your constitution? That is interesting. Although we have an unwritten constitution, there has always been lively debate amongst constitutional specialists over here as to whether parties are a good or a bad thing, and the rise of political parties during the 1800s was frequently thought to be suppressing pure representative democracy. How does your system deal with Independents?

the main problem with unwritten constitutions are they are not worth the paper they aren't written on  {-)

Reminds me of the manager we had once.... new guy thought he knew everything.... He heard us refering to a coloured work mate as "Chalky" So we were called into the office and given written warnings as he said we were being racist.... was funny when handed them back and asked him if he knew the guys name..... Terry Chalk    :}

I have to admit some of the Funniest guys I have worked with have been coloured.
Chalky with his "I better smile or he wont see me in this light"
and another time we had server failiure so he started banging on the desk saying "I knew grandpa teaching me the jungle drums would come in handy one day!"

Come friday, its hurry up,i aint got all day, gotta get home.
Years ago we had another mixed race guy and he called himself "chalky",no offence was taken, and none was given.

It does seem that these people who "Think" that they know what these minorities think.  Most of the minorities think all this political correctness is actually insulting to their religion etc.

It does seem that these people who "Think" that they know what these minorities think...

I suspect they neither know not care what the 'minorities' think. They know what people 'ought' to think, and they make a very good living by taking our taxes and then trying to force us to think the way we ought to.

The last government set up a unit in Downing Street to advise on 'Behaviour Modification' for the masses. The current government have kept it, and are expanding it. Here is a foretaste of the things that are planned... http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/adamcurtis/2010/11/
