Washing Alloy ?

Hi All
As my new boat has lots of Alloy stern gear  ok2 Whats the best thing to use to wash it down with ? I run in salt water.

fresh water then a spray dawn with wd40 and a wipe with a cloth

Have to say,in my experience it IS going to corrode through time whatever you do {:-{
But sound advice from above,rinse with plenty of freshwater a couple of times and a coat of gun oil is also good  :-))

Clean all alloy parts with plenty of fresh warm soapy water. ( warm soapy water softens and helps release the salts fast )
then rinse with plenty of clean cold fresh water. (tapalina, council pop, tap water)

once everything is clean and dry, it would be a good idea to laquer the alloy as salt will tarnish the alloy and it will
bite in and destroy a lot faster than you might think.

anodised parts are ok,but as soon as a bit comes off the salt water will attack the alloy, salt water will use all your nice
shiny allow like an anode, and attack it.

Laquer is the best sollution if alloy is the look you like.
