Are they all in Stobart livery. Sometimes when trucks are contracted out to other companies, like retailers, they wear the customers livery.

I would guess that many of the Tesco liveried tractors and drivers are also Stobarts.

Clean trucks are part of the Stobart image, the drivers probably get their hands smacked if they don't uphold Eddie's policy. Pity more don't follow his example.

I saw somewhere that the only tractor units he owns that are not painted in his livery are those contracted out to haul the McLaren F1 team trailers.

At the last count their were 3500 trucks and more than 5000 trailers, they also have their own trains and I believe they are part owner of Carlilse Airport where Stobart Air flies from.

I think at the moment they are one of the main backers to extend Carlisle Airport for their air freight services but I think
there is some local opposition to the plans

that is true, stobart does have aquisitions at carlisle airport, he also operated intermodal trains  up to the north via penrith and the west coast route,

there is also a trailer/ haulage agreement with James Irlam , so you often see trailers in Irlam colours and stobart tractor units hauling them...

my mum went to school with the stobarts.....!

Southend Aiport has been taken over by Stobart. The company has built a new Railway station adjacent  to the Airport perimeter.
Also a new Control tower. A bypass road is being consructed to enable an extention of the Runway.Big capital invstment. Ive no
idea how this company expects to get its investment back. Time will tell. John.

A case of grow or die I'm afraid, with the fuel prices going up exponentially more and more haulage businesses will be going under, to be the one leading the way gives you the means to pick up their trade immediately, in 15-20 years, if fuel doesn't go down again (!) I would imagine there won;t be many more than a few dozen huge haulage companies.

The three brothers of James Irlam sold the business to Eddie Stobart in 2008 for £59.9m, in 2008 Irlam had 263 trucks and 633 trailers.

The ex-James Irlam depot near me, M6 Jct 16 has now all been redone in the Stobart livery, virtually all the Irlam trucks have gone. Tesco Express depot in Crewe too not far away so see loads of their trucks about, never see a dirty one! Stobart won the contract for all the Tesco deliveries, nice little earner for them. I used to drive trucks all the time and often got chatting to their drivers, not a bad company to work for so long as you play by the rules and don't mess about. Regards, Dave.  :-))

Think they have more than a few containers , a couple of trains , building a a new station , as well as a rail infrastructure..
