Jet Drive in a Hydro
« on: January 25, 2011, 02:39:45 pm »

I am thinking of building the 1-16th classic shovelnose hydro for my boy.  I have a spare brushless jet drive unit and was thinking if it would be possible to run this type of boat with a jet drive unit?

No i doubt it the bottom of the tub on a hydro rides clear of the water, they only ride on the sponsons and the prop so dont know how you would make it work.Id find a suitable vee hull and modify the bottom to accept it personally.

If your looking for something to build from plans the wild thing hull could probably be modified to make a flat ridepad to install the intake for the jet pump?.

Yea i love the thunderboats i build a large one for gas motors shes 50",they run great i love how they handle. My advice if you want a roundnose is stick with surface drive or you could try this setup on it see link, scale looking too..
