Props for RTTL
« on: January 28, 2011, 03:39:57 pm »

Hi all I need some help / advice with regard to propellers please.

With a twin prop boat as the RTTL that I have started, is it best to have 1 x left hand and 1 x right hand prop and do I wire the motors so that they are both turning in the same direction or opposite each other?

Thanks for your valuable help.

If you have a left handed prop and a right handed prop with the motors running in the same direction your boat will only go in circles.

Motors need to run in opposite directions. :-))

Use left and right props.

hi ya there Cyril

Props which I used on the RTTL build are borth left-handed turning anti-clockwise, as you look at them from the back and they are of a 35mm diameter - brass - 3 bladers.

That, is in keeping with the original vessel - scale sized props and same handed.   However, the power supply Mtroniks 600s, runnin on 8.4 NiCads.

Hope this is of some help.
