Anyone see this on the M6 tonight?
« on: February 01, 2011, 09:19:17 pm »

An RN Mark 8, 4.5" gun on the back of a low loader heading south near Charnock Richard about 5.30ish tonight?

Bloody hell it was big. I was quite surprised at how big it was, gun barrel and all. Where would it have been coming from and going to? Looked in good nick.

As we are scrapping most of the navy perhaps this gun is  being mounted inshore as no boats left? John

No they are going to leave them on the lowloader - it's the budget replacement for the Challenger II

Best keep hold of it. The militery may have to borrow it if cutbacks continue. John.
